Jeep Hair Don't Care

With this recent cold spell - I guess you could call it Old Man
Winter. I desparately am looking forward to that burst of sunshine and warmth. I miss riding around with the top down in my Jeep. Since the purchase of my new Rubicon at the end of October I haven't had the chance to do much topless Jeep driving in it. So I went through some old pictures hoping it would satisfy my need for a little Jeep therapy but no such luck.  Old Man Winter you have overstayed your welcome. I'm ready for a visit from the warm days of spring.

I Cried Up a Mountain

On our trip to San Francisco we decided to take a day and drive out to Yosemite National Park for a short little visit. Little did I know what we were in for. Once we passed through the valley and headed up the mountain, we came to one of the scariest roads I have ever been on.

Now -- I am afraid of heights, so this road was probably not so scary for a typical person. My poor husband had to put up with me screaming at him to slow down for about thirty minutes. There was a little profanity thrown into the mix as well -- okay, so a lot of profanity.

My right hand had a death grip on the grab handle above the window, while my left arm was securely wrapped around the center console. As if that would protect me if we went careening off the side of the mountain.

What seemed like a never ending road, New Priest Grade Road, outside Moccasin, California was only about five miles of very, very sharp hairpin curves up the side of a mountain. At some points along the road there were no guard rails. I felt as if we were going to launch right of the side of that mountain.

Then came the crying - serious crying as I didn't think I would make it up the mountain or even back down for that matter. I was ready to set up homestead in Yosemite.

But once we made it to the top, I relaxed somewhat. There were still some scary curves once we arrived in Yosemite National Park, but nothing compared to this stretch of road.

Luckily my husband found my favorite bottle of wine at the Yosemite Camp Store which made for the ride down a little less nerve-racking. All in all it was a great day trip. It will make for a great story to tell some day. The harrowing drive up that mountain was well worth the beauty we saw that day.

Living Life to the Fullest

I am a very lucky person to have been fortunate enough to
have a career I loved, and then be a mother to two fantastic boys.  My 14 year career in television news was an amazing experience. The stories I covered and all the wonderful people I met will be with me always. Then I was lucky enough to stay at home to raise and enjoy my two energetic boys.

But now I have come to realize a lot of years have passed, and there is still so much I want to see and experience. As I get older I recognize that life is flying by too quickly. I better take advantage of the time I have now. So about a year and half ago I started my first bucket list. I started with small simple goals and began checking them off my list. Now I'm working towards larger goals.

Earlier this month I was able to check three "things to do" off my list. I walked the Golden Gate Bridge, took a ride in a historic San Francisco Cable Car, and saw Yosemite National park. I do plan on going back to Yosemite to take my boys. I want them to see all the beautiful wonders of the world and to teach them there is so much more to life out there.

On my Jeep Momma's blog I have posted my bucket list. Check it out here!

Virtual Coffee Table Book

  1. coffee table book is an oversized, usually hard-covered book for display on a table intended to entertain guests and maybe inspire conversation. The books are usually non-fiction and pictorial or a photo-book.
In the new age of technology this type of book, or any printed book for that matter, is becoming obsolete. Everything is now on some sort of electronic device. So I thought I would join this new age of technology and share my version of a coffee table book -  Jeep Momma's Virtual Coffee Table Book.

I have a love for photography and with all our smart phones equipped with cameras, taking a picture has become easier, and seems to be the a new rage in our world. We are now recording almost every aspect of our lives, from the simple mundane events, to the super freaky. Along with that has come the new version of a self portrait - called the Selfie.

I have decided to make the subject of my Virtual Coffee Table Book -- A compilation of Jeep Momma Selfies.

And the perfect beginning is my trip to San Francisco in Northern California.

This trip was a long deserved trip for my husband and I. It is our first trip without our kids in fifteen years. Shame on us! We let time pass us by and now realize life is too short to put things off. So we took advantage of a business meeting he had in San Francisco and made it a long four day weekend - A mini-vacation for just the two of us.

So this is where I begin my Virtual Coffee Table Book.
