San Francisco Cable Cars



Waiting to hop aboard one of the Historic Cable Cars in San Francisco. 












Cable Car stop along Powell Street. The San Francisco Cable Cars are listed on the National Register of Historic Places. 














Annually 7 million people ride the cable cars mostly tourists. 












The driver of a cable car is a gripman. These guys are extremely talented as they are able to smoothly drive these cars up and down some pretty steep hills without letting the cars become runaway trains.   



























The cable cars are pulled by a cable running below the street, held by a grip that extends from the car through a slit in the street surface, between the rails
